Hello All,
The year is almost over, so I would like to thank you for supporting Suburban Notebook on Substack and Instagram, with special thanks to those who bought the zine version through The Sticky Institute, Good Earth Bookshop and various zine fairs. Molto apprezzato!
In 2024, I posted eleven original poems and published a selection of them in zine format. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed dreaming them onto the page. If anyone wants a copy of the zine, please get in touch and I’ll post it to you. Buon Natale!
The beauty of using platforms such as Substack and Instagram is that I constantly discover great work. A couple of standouts for me this year are -
Substack: Tokyo Calling by Gianni Simone. A delightful collection of essays, articles and vignettes about an Italian guy's experience of living in Japan. Gianni writes with great humour and detail. His posts are well-researched and supported with beautiful (and not-so-beautiful) images of his adopted country. Worth checking out if you are a Nihongophile (one who loves Japan or Japanese culture, according to the Net, but ask Gianni yourself at giannisimone.substack.com).
Instagram: jaidynpoetry by Jaidyn Luke Attard (he/him). Author and poet extraordinaire, founder of the Melbourne Street Poetry Project, Jaidyn posts his compelling prose around inner Melbourne on walls, telegraph poles, whatever, wherever … poetry about modern life, being young, all of that. You’ll find photographic evidence of his words battling the elements in Fitzroy and nearby suburbs. His book The Street Poet is available at @backshedpress, @thedegravescircle and bio.site/jaidynpoetry. The lad has a bright future.
I wish everyone the best of everything for the coming year. I’ll be back in early 2025 with more poetry/prose from my Suburban Notebook.
Thanks again for your support. Saluti!
M.
Margherita, ti auguro un meraviglioso 2025 pieno di energia, creativita' e buona salute.
